Get Ready With Me: Wedding Edition...

Hello!

So for this weeks post I am going to do a 'get ready with me' for my friend's wedding. The wedding is Nude themed (not naked obviously, the colour!) which means I will be doing everything, like my makeup, in a natural, pinky way.

So first I ran myself a bath and I used my Soap & Glory body wash (which I showed in my favorites post) as a substitute for bubble bath as I didn't have any left but it worked just as well as a normal bubble bath.

I put my 'essential extracts' coconut milk body lotion on the side to put on my legs and arms for afterwards. I think coconut body lotion smells so nice and it makes your skin really soft after shaving your legs. There are so many brands that sell coconut butter but I just had this one handy.

For my hair, I mixed two different shampoos together in my hand. I use the Pantene 'smooth and sleek' shampoo with the Osmo 'silverising shampoo'. I use two because the Osmo one helps my colour stay strong and excludes any orange tones in the blondness and it just keeps it really bright but I use Pantene at the same time because it makes my hair soft and my hair dresser recommend I go half and half with a silverising shampoo and a normal shampoo or my hair might get too dry from using the Osmo one by itself.

I blended it together and just applied it to the roots of my hair and massaged it in for a bit, then I washed it off with the shower head. Then I applied my L'Oreal  colour development hair masque (it was in another post, I think my monthly favorites again) all over my hair (instead of a normal conditioner) and I put it in a shower cap for the rest of my bath time so my hair was really moisturized and soft.

I also used the Clean & Clear 'blackhead clearing' daily scrub on my face and I just massaged that it and washed it off with a flannel. I also used some exfoliating gloves, mine are from The Body Shop, and massaged the areas where I get filled up pores, like around my nose.

I also have a candle and a glass of water handy.

I then rinsed the masque off my hair and applied the coconut moisturiser to my body

Once I was all dry, I applied the Simple face moisturiser (which I know, I use in all my posts) and my Sure 'crystal invisible' deodorant. I also used my Hollister spray but I applied that when I was all ready.

Now moving onto my wedding make up routine!

So my base was pretty similar to 'My Daily Routine' post but here are the products to remind you in the picture. I just applied a bit more of everything (particularly primer and concealer) so it stayed on longer throughout the day. I have mentioned all these products loads but they are all really moisturising for my dry skin and stay on really well and look very bright and flawless.

Another different thing I did with my base that I wouldn't with my daily routine is that I applied powder and bronzer as it is a special occasion. So I first applied the powder over my base in light brush strokes and a bit down my neck. This one is the 'stay matte' powder from Rimmel which you have also probably herd people talk about a lot. Its really cheap, I think around £3 or something and it just keeps everything in place and covers any marks, spots or bags that might still be a bit visible. I applied this with the Lancôme brush but I would recommend using a bigger and softer brush as this isn't the softest brush and its a bit too small in my opinion.

I also used the Natural Collection bronzer with the same brush on my forehead and under my cheek bones. If you pout then there's a clear line under your cheek bones where you can apply this too. I like this one because I'm not really confident with bronzer and this one is really natural and affordable. Oh and I also apply this to my neck so that my face matches the colour of my neck.

I then finished my base off with my Mac blusher (also in my daily routine). This is a really nice pigmented pinky colour so it will compliment my nude coloured dress well.

Also the reason I haven't included pictures so far of me actually applying the makeup is because there are already pictures in 'My Daily Routine' so  there wouldn't be much point as it would look exactly the same.

Moving onto eye brows, I used the same kit as 'My Daily Routine' but I just made it a little stronger and made a more defined arch by taking it higher up and adding more powder.

Also (you can do this whenever) just after my bath I plucked a couple of hairs to neaten up my brows while my pores where clean and open from the hotness of the bath. I only plucked a couple that appeared under and between my brows but I didn't go over the top and pluck loads as I am growing out my brows and I didn't want to do this just before the wedding as it would look unnatural.

Now for my eyes. For the lid, I took my Elf eye shadow pallet and I mixed three of the pinks together on my Body Shop eye brush. The pinks I used are the one my brush is pointing to, the one to the left of it and the one just underneath. I apply this all over the lid and above my crease. I then finished it off my adding the shade to the left (which is the lightest one) just near the corner of my inner eyelid so its lighter on that side and 'opens up' my eyes.

Then I took the more shimmery shade which my brush is pointing to in the second picture and applied that on the outer corners only and blended it into the original colour. I kept picking up more of this shade and continued to blend it in till I had done about three extra layers and it looked well pigmented.

I then curled my lashes with the Bobbi Brown lash curler and I used my Mac pencil eyeliner. I don't usually wear eye liner on an every day basis but I felt my eyes needed more definition for the wedding without being too harsh so I used a soft pencil instead of a hard, harsh liquid eyeliner. I then blended it in with my finger a bit so its more natural and less defined. I added a slight cat eye flick at the end to again, open up my eye and I just think flicks look really pretty.

Then I applied my Smash Box mascara over the top of my lashes and underneath, bringing it out in a 'zig-zag' movement so that they are nice and separated and I don't get clumps. Then I finish off by brushing through with an old mascara brush so that they are all neat.

Also I sharpened my eyeliner with a Chanel sharpner because it was a bit blunt.

I finished off my makeup by adding some Vaseline lip balm in the flavor 'cocoa butter' because it stops my lips being dry and because its a nude wedding, I just wanted a light natural shimmer on my lips and not a lipstick, which I think would be too harsh.

I then went back over with my Mac concealer under my eyes in case any was messed up from doing my eyes.

Now for my hair!

I took my hair out of the towel (my hair was in a turban whilst I did my makeup) and I dried it with the Babylis hair dryer roughly and combed through my hair with my fingers. I also finished off by using my rounded hair brush (below) to bring out strands of my hair and blow dry them outwards.

You don't really have to do this but I just think it makes your hair smoother to start styling with.

I then separated my hair into a side/middle parting with the pointy end of my pink brush in the picture, ready for styling and I gave it a quick brush with my normal hair brush.

Then I started to do my hair using my Remington straighteners by picking up a strand of my hair and straightening it outwards, until I reached the end and I rotated the straighteners so that my hair was straight at the top and just curly at the ends.

I then sprayed my hair brush with L'Oreal hair spray and brushed out the curls so that they were wavy, rather then curly and a bit more 'bouncy'. Here is also a picture of the hair masque I used earlier, just to remind you or show you if you haven't seen my monthly favorites post.

To finish off my hair, I used some VO5 'plump it up' spray on the ends of my hair and just brushed it through with a hair brush and 'scrunched up' the ends of my hair for a bit of extra volume.

After my hair was all done, I put in some cute earrings which I made the week before. I brought the wooden hearts at The Bead Shop which were about 20p each and I applied them to some earrings using some pliers to open and close the jump loop.

They were so cheap and easy to make and I think they go really well with my outfit.

Before I put my outfit on, I finished off by painting my finger and toe nails in two different pink colours after filing my nails into a nicer shape. I used the lighter pink from Champneys on my fingers and a darker pink from Next on my toe nails. I applied two coats of each colour so its more pigmented.

The outfit!!

Okay so I wore this nude/pink floral dress from Velvet which was £32. I love this dress SO much as it is just so pretty and its good because I can also wear it in the Summer so I don't just have to wear it once for the wedding. I love the floral lacey pattern and it goes really well with my earrings!

I also Brought these matching sandals with a very slight heel in a nude colour from Primark for £10. They have a really cute golden patten on and a nice buckle around the ankle. I love these so much and like the dress, I can wear these in summer too.

I picked out this bag which I borrowed from my mum because I wanted something white to 'tone down' the pink. I also brought this makeup with me to top up with. However, afterwards me and my friends went to the Pier and I dropped my Mac concealer into Brighton Sea and I lost it so I don't recommend taking expensive makeup twith you to top up with in case you loose it, like I did (sad times).

A photo from the wedding...
(sorry I am squinting from the sun)

So this is the final out come of my 'Get Ready With Me'. I am really happy with it and I think it well represents nude and its also nice and summery.

This was definitely my longest blog post so far so I hope you all enjoyed it! Please add me to your circle and +1 this post! If you have any comments or suggestions for my next post then please comment below!

Room Haul: Bedroom Edition...

Helloooooo!

So I thought I would do a mini 'room haul' type post thing. I am in the process of decorating my bedroom because I felt it looked a bit dark for Summer and I want it to be more lighter and brighter. I really like the idea of interior designing so this might seem really boring but I think its really exciting. I have been watching a tun of 'home hauls' on You Tube and it has given me some inspiration to look for things for my bedroom which are white or light colours.

I am also going to paint all my furniture a chalky white colour and I am going to sand the edges so it looks vintage-looking and 'shabby chic'. So here are some of the things I have got so far, enjoy!

White Heart x2, Velvet £1.75 (each)

Light Pink Accessory Hanger, Primark £2

Glass Heart Shaped Jars, Velvet £5 (each)

Yankee Candles ('Red velvet', 'Camomile Tea' and 'Sparkling Lemon') £1.35 (each) or set of 5 £7.49

Candle Holder x2, Velvet 50p (each)

So that's it! I hope you enjoyed this mini bedroom haul sort of post! I might do a quick extra one soon showing you how to make furniture look vintage or 'shabby chic' (I know through watching You Tube videos).

If you enjoyed this post please add me to your circle or +1 me on google!

My Daily Spring/Summer Makeup Routine

Hellooo!

I know I've been doing loads of blog posts recently but I have been so excited to do some sort of makeup routine. So this is going to be my daily makeup routine for the Spring/Summer, this is just showing how I personally do it for those people who have asked but you can obviously do it however you like.

So I first prep my face by washing it with the Simple Facial Wash, then I dry my face and use the Simple Face Moisturiser. I do this before I apply my makeup so that my face is all clean and fresh and the moisturiser just stops my skin feeling dry.

Then I move on to my base. I first use the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer so my pores don't get clogged up with foundation and it helps my makeup to stay on longer. If you saw my "makeup haul", you will recognize a lot of products which I am using so I won't be too descriptive about them as I have already written a lot about how they work for me etc. I just use a tiny 'blob' and blend it in all over my face.

Then I use my Mac Concealer under my eyes where the dark circles are and anywhere else on my face where I have spots or marks. I 'tap' the concealer in with my ring finger and go over it with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush so it's all blended in. Then I use a small blob of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and dot it round my face and blend it in with the same brush. I use this foundation in the hot whether because it doesn't dry out my skin and it reflects the light so it looks really matte and fresh in bright light.

Next I use my Mac blusher and apply that with my Lancôme powder brush and blend it out in circular motions with my No7 brush. I apply this mainly to the apples of my cheeks and blend it out.

For my Spring/Summer routine, I only use blusher. I don't use pressed powder because I don't like to feel really covered and 'caked' in the hot weather. I also don't use bronzer because I like looking quite light and not too 'bronzed up' as my hair is very light coloured. Also, I try to keep this routine as natural as possible so I let the sun bronze me up instead of using powder.

Then I move onto my eye brows. I use the Wet and Wild Eye and Brow kit in Light and I use the darkest brown colour on a tiny angled brush. I like this brow kit because you get three brushes with it and it's multi-purpose because you can use if for eyes as well but I just use the one colour for my brows.

I apply it by taking a bit on the brush and I tap it on the side so I'm not applying too much and I follow the shape of my brow and brush upwards to that all the hairs line in place as I am brushing in the powder. I also extend the end of my brow out a little more.

Then I move onto my eyes. I use the Elf eye shadow pallet and use a brush from my Body Shop brush kit. Unfortunately, I got this Elf kit in America and I don't think this brand exists in the UK but if your intrested, you can probably get it on Amazon or eBay.

I use this pink colour all over my lid because it's nice and light. I bring it above my crease but not as far as the brow bone.

I think it's really nice and natural looking.

Next I curl my eyelashes with the Bobbi Brown Eyelash Curler and apply the Mac Zoom Lash Mascara to my lashes. I start by applying it over the top of my lashes by 'shuffling' it side to side downwards, then I go under my lashes and shuffle it upwards. I then apply some to my bottom lashes too in the same zig zag movements.

Then I use a dry, old mascara brush and shuffle through my lashes again to seperate them and get rid of any lumps.

Lastly, I apply some Born Lippy balm from The Body Shop to my lips and put a tiny bit of Max Factor lipstick in the shade Pink Brandy to sort of 'stain' my lips.

And this is the finished result!!

I really like the natural light and pinky look from the eye lids, cheeks and lips because it looks really summery. I also love this foundation because its so dewy and glowy which means I don't really need a highlighter. I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe got some tips from it. I would love to hear your comments or suggestions for my next post. Hopefully this came through well in pictures!
