Moving Away / Packing Up My Bedroom...

Hello! So as many of you know I'm off to Cardiff for University. I'll be studying Textiles and living in student accommodation for my first year. I'm actually super excited to move out and explore a new city - I was born in Brighton hospital and lived here for twenty years of my life and although I love it I'm 100% ready to move somewhere new. I say new but I've actually been to Cardiff hundreds of times as my family are welsh and my grandpa is currently living there so it will be nice to go back to a place where I have a lot of childhood memories and make some new ones.

I was planning to make a video on my move to Cardiff but as I started to pack my room I realised how busy it is and I just decided I didn't have time to film it all. Also every day between packing I've been seeing a different friend so I can say goodbye to them all before I'm off so it's been pretty packed/busy at the moment for me and I just thought it would be nice to make a blog post anyway - I don't really post here much so I thought this would be a good opportunity to document everything here.

So for this first 'moving away' post I thought I would take pictures and document the process of my room getting packed away. When I go to Uni, my mum is going to keep it how it is for a bit for when I come back to Christmas then my brothers going to move into it so I felt like it was really important to take 'before' pictures as I love my room and all the memories I had in there.

This was probably my favourite section of my bedroom. I guess its like the entertainment section as I've got my books and dvds on the shelf, my turn table on the draws and photographs of some of my favourite memories (mostly from college as they were definitely the best years) . Theres also lots of little random things like pebbles I've collected from different holidays and some of my crystals which I've noticed my friends liked to look at as soon as they came in my room.

To the right is my shelf full of precious things with a Warpaint and Amy Winehouse poster (yeah I have a lot of Amy stuff haha) which includes my memory box with old festival tickets and wristbands or letters Oli or my friends have written to me. I also just keep random stuff here like spare penny and snow globes from places I've been too - which look really dusty.

This is my bed and beind and underneath my bed there is so many art folders and books from GCSE to Art Foundation full of all my photography, textiles, graphics, fine art (etc) work which will be kept safely in the attic.

Also - I got these fairy lights on the frame of my bed ages ago with the intention I'd take them to University a few years later but I'm annoyed were not even allowed them (or candles!) but you know, fire safety comes first..

This is my dressing table where I keep all my beauty/makeup/jewellery stuff. Dont ask why theres a cup of tea and an orange (I think I was hungover??) and I've got yet another Amy poster and my guitar and bin.

To the right of this is my wardrobe covered in more photos and a game of thrones poster which I actually got for free in my last job but its gotten a bit battered so I'm going to recycle it. And theres loads more art stuff and random junk on top of my wardrobe which will go in the attic too.

This is the back of my door where I keep random stuff like hoodies and bags. I also stuck sections of a newspaper from when David Bowie passed away on my door.

                                                        /

So thats my bedroom before I've moved out. I'll keep you posted with my next blog post about the move to uni which will include packing, trips to ikea and my new bedroom pics. Honestly, I don't think I'm that nervous or going to be homesick as I'm really independent anyway. Obviously I'll miss my family a bit but I think I'll be fine. I'll miss Oli a lot as were doing the whole long-distance thing but to be honest, with this generations FaceTime and everything I think it will be okay and were going to make it work. Also he's already booked his coach ticket to come see me in Cardiff so it makes me feel a lot more settled about the whole thing. I hope you enjoyed this post, see you for the next one, Charlie x
